The Valentin Leflaive Champagne House stems from the encounter between two men who are passionate about their terroir and well known in their respective regions, Olivier Leflaive in Puligny-Montrachet in Burgundy and Érick De Sousa, one of the most famous winegrowers of the Côte des Blancs in Champagne.
Bearing the first name of Olivier Leflaive's son, Valentin Leflaive champagne embodies the desire of its founders to create Champagne wines that are inspired by the Burgundian climat. In addition to respecting the identity of the grape varieties, Valentin Leflaive cuvées offer the experience of fine terroir-based champagnes, made with the utmost respect and a perfectly mastered Burgundian know-how.
The Leflaive family, which has been present in the Côte d'Or for several generations, is renowned for its excellent know-how and its passionate and exacting approach to the terroir. Indeed, it is this know-how that Olivier Leflaive, currently the sole director of the Valentin Leflaive house, applies to Champagne making by producing wines from a rigorous selection of plots that accurately reflect the expression of the finest Champagne terroirs.
In order to reveal their aromatic complexity, some of the wines are aged in the old Burgundy rooms of Puligny-Montrachet and Montrachet owned by Olivier Leflaive.
Seeking transparency and modernity, each champagne by Valentin Leflaive is labelled with a specific code. The letters define the grape variety and the parcel of land of each cuvée and the numbers refer to the years of the reserve wines used as well as the dosage. Thus, the Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs CA 15 40, was created from the Cramant and Avize Grands Crus parcels, 2015 is the year of the base blend and lastly, 4.0 g is the sugar dosage per litre.
Through a complete range that includes four Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs and one Extra-Brut Blanc de Noirs, Valentin Leflaive champagnes stand out due to their finesse and elegance.
