A fine red wine from Pomerol by Château Petit-Village
The estate
Château Petit-Village, a true gem of an estate, is located in the Pomerol appellation on the right bank of Bordeaux. The vast work of restructuring the vineyard and renovating the cellars has resulted in a remarkable potential at this superb Pomerol property.
The vineyard
The Château Petit-Village vineyard covers 10.5 hectares all in one piece. The vines of Château Petit-Village are planted on a beautiful terroir of deep gravel soils made of quartz and flint. The subsoil is clayey in nature. This unique combination is a particularity of the Pomerol terroir.
The vintage
The 2019 growing season began with cool and humid days, followed by an extremely hot summer. The adaptability of the vines to the climatic conditions of the vintage proved to be excellent. The warm days and cool nights allowed the grapes to reach perfect maturity. The harvest took place between September 18 and October 2.
The ageing
30% new French oak barrels. 70% barrels of one previous wine. Ageing from 16 to 18 months.
The blend
Merlot (80%), cabernet franc (15%), cabernet sauvignon (5%).
