Description
A full-bodied and fruity Argentine red wine
The estate
Situated in Mendoza, the Zuccardi estate is renowned for producing some of the finest Argentinian wines. Sebastián Zuccardi embodies the third generation of winemakers on this family estate. The estate’s history began in 1963 when his grandfather planted the first hectares of vines in Maipú. Since January 2000, Sebastián Zuccardi has been at the head of a vineyard comprising over 200 hectares of vines. Rooted at the foot of the Andes Mountains, Zuccardi’s wines reflect the richness of the terroirs of the Uco Valley.
Born into a visionary and forward-looking family, Sebastián Zuccardi created a Research and Development department in 2008 dedicated to optimising the vineyard's practices. In 2016, he inaugurated a cellar with uniquely shaped vats and amphorae, the result of many years of research into how to make wine in the most natural way possible, while limiting human intervention, in order to preserve the characteristics of each vineyard and to enhance their expression during the winemaking process.
Recognised as one of the best winemakers in South America, Sebastián Zuccardi produces wines that are worshipped by connoisseurs and praised by critics.
Voted as the best vineyard in South America in 2019 and 2020, the Zuccardi family estate was named the world's best vineyard in 2020.
The vineyard
Zuccardi's Finca Canal Uco Malbec 2020 is a Mendoza wine that stems from a selection of vineyards located at 1,100 metres above sea level within the Paraje Altamira area. These Uco Valley soils are composed of granite, sand and silt, depending on the parcel.
The vintage
The particularly mild conditions in the run-up to the harvest, with cool temperatures, very little rainfall and pleasant temperature variations, enabled the teams to harvest high-quality grapes.
Vinification and ageing
The hand-picked grapes are rigorously sorted before being placed into vats by gravity. Fermentation in concrete vats with indigenous yeasts, followed by ageing in concrete vats.
The blend
Malbec (100%).
