After working as a consultant in New Zealand and South Africa, Bruno Lorenzon returned to his native Burgundy. The fruit of his hard work, assisted by his sister Carline, and the purity and precision of his wines, the family estate has been enjoying a new lease of life since 1997. The Domaine Lorenzon vineyard now covers 9 hectares in the Mercurey and Montagny appellations, right in the heart of Burgundy.
When Bruno Lorenzon took over the family estate after working as a salesman at the cooperage in Mercurey, he realised the richness of the exceptional terroir he was taking over. He is passionately committed to making this terroir shine through in each of his wines. For him, "a good grape is 90% of the work." He sees himself as simply revealing the quintessence of his estate.
Purity is the fundamental concept behind vine-growing at the Lorenzon estate. This means precision growth of the 10,000 or so vines on each hectare. Bruno Lorenzon's aim is to bring out the full potential of the Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs grown on this exceptional terroir. This requires a minimum of manipulation and a maximum understanding of the vines. That's why the vineyard has not been treated with herbicides for 30 years and is farmed organically under Ecocert certification.
The grapes are vinified in barrels designed by Bruno Lorenzon, who selects his wood from the region. It is in these barrels that the winemaker steps aside to allow the expression of the vintage and the grapes to shine through.
With their exceptional purity and true reflection of the terroir in which they were born, Domaine Lorenzon wines are among the finest in Mercurey and Montagny.
