Description

An exceptional limited edition Vintage Port celebrating Graham's Bicentenary

The estate

Founded in 1820 and acquired by the Symington family in 1970, W&J Graham's Port House is now the only independent British Port House. While Graham's was one of the first houses to acquire its own vineyards in the Douro Valley, in the Duriense region of North West Portugal, it also reflects its pioneering spirit through a constant search for perfection and modernisation of its viticultural and winemaking practices.

Graham's produces Port Wines that are recognised beyond the borders of Portugal for their finesse, aromatic richness and concentration.

The wine

Graham's 2020 Bicentenary Edition is a Vintage Port made from the high-altitude vineyards of three of the estate's four quintas: Villa dos Malvédos (55%), Quinta da Vila Velha (25%) and Quinta do Tua (20%).

Singular in their mosaic of terroirs, altitudes, exposures and climates, these vineyards give rise to an exceptional cuvée that reveals Graham's most refined and singular signature style.

The vintage

2020 is recognised as the lowest yielding vintage of this century. A rare occurrence, the almost simultaneous ripening of the two flagship grape varieties (Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca) enbaled these varietals to be co-fermented during vinification, resulting in an utterly rare, intense, structure and aromatic palette.

The blend

Touriga Franca (40%)
Touriga Nacional (25%)
Sousão (22%) - the first time this variety has made up 1/5 of a Graham's Vintage Port blend.
Blend of old vines (7%)
Alicante Bouschet (6%).
