Description
The Freshness and Tension of a 2017 White Grand Cru Classé from Graves
Nestled in a beautiful green setting 11 kilometers south of Bordeaux, the very old Château Olivier is a Grand Cru Classé of Graves since 1953, standing out among the top references of the Pessac-Léognan appellation.
With their pleasant fruit, tension and minerality, the crystalline and classy whites of the property are sure values from this appellation.
Although 2017 will be remembered because of the episodes of frost that hit the vineyards of Bordeaux without sparing the vineyard of Château Olivier, the sacrifice of quantity was not at the price of quality. Despite lower yields than usual, the quality of the whites wines from this region was exceptional. The fruit reached perfect maturity, developing a great aromatic richness while preserving a superb freshness.
Offering a blend dominated by Sauvignon Blanc (75%), supplemented by Sémillon (23%) and Muscadelle (2%), the 2017 vintage of the Château Olivier white is one of the greatest challengers from the Pessac-Léognan appellation. Concentrated and intensely aromatic, the nose offers a superb bouquet on bright white peach and citrus notes, which give way to delicate fragrances of white flowers. On the palate, the attack vibrates with energy, coating the mouth with a dense and ample texture, stretching into a crystalline finish with a tasty minerality. A true success for Château Olivier, the 2017 White is definitely one of the greatest of this vintage!
