An elegant Pomerol wine with refined tannins and beautiful tension
The property
Château La Pointe, located in the Pomerol appellation on the right bank of Bordeaux, was founded in 1868 and covers 23 hectares. Currently led by Eric Monneret, the château has experienced a renaissance since its acquisition by the Generali group in 2007.
The vineyard
The vineyard of Château La Pointe covers 23 hectares in the heart of the Pomerol appellation. The soils are varied, composed of gravels, pebbles, clay-gravel and sandy soils on clays or gravels, offering a diversity of terroirs that contributes to the complexity of the wine.
The vintage
The year 2019 was marked by a less humid winter than previous ones followed by a cool spring. The summer proved to be hot and dry, with a temperature peak reaching 41°C. Light rains in September (11 mm on the 10th and 23 mm on the 22nd) allowed for optimal ripening of the grapes. The harvest began on September 16 for the young vines and ended on October 3 and 4 for the cabernet francs. The harvested grapes were of excellent quality, without botrytis, with thick skins and mature seeds.
Vinification and aging
Traditional vinification respecting the fruit and the terroir. Aging in French oak barrels allows the wine to develop its structure and aromatic complexity.
Blend
Merlot (76%) and cabernet franc (24%).
