Description
A lively and elegant red wine from Pomerol
The estate
It was in 1951 that Jean Bouldy acquired the Château Bellegrave in Pomerol. The third generation of the estate, embodied by Jean-Marie Bouldy, his wife and their children, now oversees the destiny of this beautiful property on the right bank of Bordeaux.
The vineyard
Château Bellegrave is a Pomerol wine from a vineyard of 8.5 hectares, located in the southwest of the appellation. The vines, averaging 40 years old, are planted on clay-gravel soils. As early as 2001, Jean-Marie Bouldy unofficially began converting to organic viticulture. In 2009, the vineyard of Château Bellegrave was fully converted to organic farming with ECOCERT certification.
Vinification and ageing
Manual harvesting accompanied by rigorous sorting. Parcel vinification. The ageing is carried out in barrels (30% new, 30% one wine, 20% two wines) as well as in terracotta and stoneware jars (20%).
Blend
This Château Bellegrave 2023 is made from a blend of Merlot (75%) and Cabernet Franc (25%).
