Description

The aromatic complexity and minerality of a Telmont champagne

The estate

Founded in 1912 by the Lhôpital family, the Telmont Champagne House benefited from a succession of visionary generations who all shared a passion for the terroirs of Champagne. In 2020, the French group, Rémy Cointreau, joined the Telmont adventure and the partners share a common ambition that is to preserve the terroirs by practicing organic methods and consolidating a large-scale sustainable project. It is indeed the house’s innovative approach that led Leonardo DiCaprio to join Telmont as a shareholder. Bertrand Lhôpital remains both the Cellar Master and vineyard manager and thus guarantees the quality of centuries’ worth of family know-how.

The vineyard

Maison Telmont spreads across 24.5 hectares in Damery, near Épernay in the Champagne region. Since 2017, some of the Maison Telmont parcels are certified in organic farming. In 2022, the Telmont Champagne House will practice organic farming methods on half of its land.

Réserve Brut stems from the following parcels: Damery (44%), Fontette (8.5%), Songy (6.8%), Avize (6.7%), Saudoy (5.8%), Cumières (4.3%), Nogent l'Abesse (4%), Vertus (3.6%), Vinay (2.3%), Chaumuzy (2%), Boursault (2%), Epernay (1.9%).

The wine

Réserve Brut showcases a subtle marriage between three of the Champagne region’s iconic grape varieties and seven different years. The ensemble offers an array of expressions that perfectly reveal a harmonious blend between richness, fruit and freshness. The purest expression of the terroir, Réserve Brut pays tribute to the uniqueness of each year.

Vinification and ageing

Réserve Brut is produced using the traditional Champagne winemaking process. The 2017 vintage was vinified with reserve wines, including the 2014 and 2015 vintages. Bottling took place in 2018 and the champagne was aged for 3 years. Malolactic fermentation was carried out.

The dosage of this champagne is 6.7 grams/litre.

The blend

Chardonnay (43%), Pinot Meunier (43%) and Pinot Noir (20%).

Réserve Brut: Characteristics and tasting tips

The tasting

Colour

Réserve Brut seduces the eye with its golden colour, fine effervescence and elegant foam.

Nose

The aromatic bouquet reveals notes of honeysuckle and a hint of vanilla.

Palate

This Réserve Brut champagne offers a sublime aromatic richness. Aromas of cooked fruit such as mirabelle plum blend with slightly spicy notes before giving way to tropical fruit notes. The result is a lively, mineral expression.

Food and wine pairing

Réserve Brut will complement caviar.

Service and storage

For an optimal tasting experience, serve at 8 degrees.
