Description
An aromatic and balanced vintage Brut Champagne by Taittinger
The estate
The history of the Taittinger Champagne House began in the early 20th century. Ran by Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger and his two children, Clovis and Vitalie, the Taittinger House has managed to preserve the family spirit by producing champagnes that are resolutely Chardonnay in style. Since January 1st 2020, Vitalie Taittinger is the President of the Taittinger Champagne House.
The vineyard
The vineyards of the Taittinger Champagne House cover 288 hectares of vines and include 37 different crus. This makes Taittinger the third largest vineyard in the Champagne region. The entire vineyard holds the High Environmental Value certificate.
The wine
This 2015 Taittinger Brut Millésimé is made from 70% Grands Crus and 30% Premiers Crus.
The vintage
A very mild winter preceded a spring marked by a particularly cold episode, followed by high temperatures. The even flowering period occurred due to the strong sunshine and low rainfall in June, conditions that lasted throughout the summer. The rainy spells at the end of August saved the vineyard and boosted the ripening of the grapes. The grapes were harvested in mid-September under cool autumn weather and led to an elegant vintage that harmoniously combined freshness with a fruity expression.
Vinification and ageing
Only the juice from the first press is used in the production of this vintage champagne, which is aged in cellars for 5 years.
The blend
Chardonnay (50%)
Pinot noir (50%).
Taittinger’s 2015 Brut Millésimé: Characteristics and tasting tips
The tasting
Nose
The nose seduces with its purity, its beautiful minerality and its intense aromatic expression. Refreshing fragrances of white flowers (orange blossom, lime blossom, honeysuckle) blend with notes of lime, white peach and slightly toasted almonds.
Palate
Lively and precise, the palate is marked by the champagne’s sweetness, richness and balance. Persistent, the finish reveals a gourmet salinity.
