Description
The finest champagne from the famous Pommery Champagne House
The producer
Following the death of her husband, Madame Pommery took over the running of the eponymous Champagne House with the ambition of producing high-quality cuvées from exceptional terroirs. The Pommery Champagne House reflects the visionary spirit of Madame Pommery through its array of elegant and aromatic wines.
The house is owned by the Vranken-Pommery Monopole group, which is at the head of the largest vineyard in Europe.
The wine
Cuvée Louise was created in 1979, with the ambition of representing the quintessential style of the famous Pommery Champagne House. This prestigious cuvée is named after the daughter of the brand's founders. Louise's unexpected birth gave her parents a new impetus to ensure a prosperous future for their family. Thus, as the wool trade was declining, Mr Pommery turned to champagne in 1857. Unfortunately, he passed away a year after Louise's birth, and thus, the famous story of Veuve Pommery began, one of the great female figures who is entwined with the history of Champagne, alongside Veuve Clicquot.
Produced only in exceptional years, the Cuvée Louise by the Pommery Champagne House comprises a low dosage. This Extra-Brut champagne is produced from the house’s finest parcels.
The bottle is enfolded in a box that is adorned with hot gold stamping, a high-end finish and the only embossing technique that truly portrays the appearance of gold. Moreover, this handcrafted box is produced by hand in the workshop of the Pommery Champagne House.
The blend
Made from grapes grown in three exceptional Grands Crus - Avize, Aÿ and Cramant - Pommery's Cuvée Louise 2004 comprises a blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
