Description
A gourmet and refined Grand Cru vintage champagne
The producer
Located in the heart of Aÿ, one of the 17 Champagne villages to be classified as Grand Cru, the Lallier Champagne House has been writing its history since its foundation by René Lallier in 1906. In his constant quest for excellence, Réné-James Lallier, the founder's grandson, started a new page in the history of the house by carrying out major modernisation work on the wine-making facilities in 1996. In 2004, Francis Tribaut, a passionate Champagne producer who advises other great names in Champagne, acquired the Lallier House.
Lallier wines are renowned for their finesse and their authentic expression of the richness of the most beautiful terroirs of Champagne.
The vintage
2012 was a vintage marked by difficult climatic conditions for the Champagne vineyards. While the early frost in February had little impact on the vineyard, the April-May frost caused significant losses in yields because it occurred after the vines had begun to bud. Then followed violent episodes of hail and storms which disrupted the vegetative cycle and favoured the development of mildew, powdery mildew, coulure and millerandage. Lastly, the very high temperatures in August burned the grapes. Although the loss of vine yields was significant, the bunches harvested between September 18th and 28th 2012 showcased a satisfactory and healthy condition along with a pleasant maturity and quality.
Vinification and ageing
Made with 100% wine from the year 2012, this Lallier Vintage Grand Cru 2012 is vinified using the house's own yeasts. Partial malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for a minimum of 7 years in the cellars. Disgorgement is carried out approximately 5 months before release. The dosage of this Brut champagne is 7 g/litre.
The blend
This Lallier Vintage Grand Cru Champagne 2012 comprises a blend of Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs (45%) and Pinot Noir from Aÿ and the Montagne de Reims (55%).
