Description
An aromatic and elegant Champagne by Maison Henriot
The producer
Founded in 1808, the Henriot Champagne House has been growing Chardonnay grapes, from the Côte des Blancs, with passion, high and exacting standards for 8 generations. This noble grape variety will later become the defining style of each of the Henriot vintages.
Henriot champagne, greatly appreciated by the Dutch Court, would later become a leading brand among European aristocracy.
Henriot champagnes stand out due to their finesse, their exceptional elegance, their complexity and their radiant richness, thanks to a specific ageing period and a quantity of reserve wines for each cuvée.
The vineyard
With a 35-hectare vineyard, the House of Henriot champagnes are produced partly from the Côte des Blancs and the Montagne de Reims’ most beautiful Premiers and Grands Crus terroirs.
The blend
More than 25 crus are blended in order to obtain the Brut Souverain cuvée by the Henriot Champagne House. A flagship cuvée which embodies Henriot’s signature style, the blend evolves every year according to the annual climatic variations but also as a means to perpetuate the House's style.
The Brut Souverain blend comprises a balanced proportion of the two of the Champagne region’s main grape varieties: Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims and Chardonnay from the Côte des Blancs. Pinot Meunier also makes up a small proportion of the blend and brings out sublte fruity notes.
This Brut Souverain contains 20% reserve wine and the dosage is 8g/l.
Once bottled, the Brut Souverain remains in the cellars of the Henriot Champagne House for 3 years.
The tasting
Colour
The colour is a brilliant straw gold. The beautiful effervescence offers fine and regular bubbles.
Nose
The nose is precise and refreshing. It reveals a rich aromatic palette which includes notes of citrus and yellow fruit mixed with vine flower, elderflower and delicate brioche and toasted aromas.
Palate
The palate is lively on the attack, balanced and full of freshness. The full texture presents brioche and toasted notes as well as vanilla and fruit (morello cherries, candied plums). Characterized by citrus notes, the finish is refreshing and elegant.
Food and wine pairing
The Brut Souverain wine by the Henriot Champagne House can be enjoyed as an aperitif or with cold starters, fish or delicatessen.
Thin monkfish fillets with a creamy saffron sauce, a leg of lamb from the Limousin region with sage or a rabbit and cabbage stew will sublimate the character of this fine Henriot Brut Souverain champagne.
Service
For an optimal tasting experience, we recommend serving this champagne at 8 °C.
Storage
This Brut Souverain can be enjoyed now or be kept in the cellar for 5 to 10 years, enabling it to develop its full complexity.
