Description
The freshness and complexity of a unique Rosé champagne
The producer
Founded at the beginning of the 1950s, the Geoffroy Champagne House has been producing high quality vintages for 4 generations. A vineyard managed with the utmost care as well as a very precise plot-based vinification results in champagnes that exude the purest expression of the terroir and showcase the champagne's vibrant fruit.
The vineyard
Located in the heart of the Marne Valley in Champagne, the house reigns over a 14-hectare vineyard that spreads over a mosaic of 35 plots.
Eager to respect the terroir and the authentic expression of each plot, the vineyard management favours the microbial activity in the soil and limits human intervention as much as possible.
The wine
This Blanc de Rose Premier Cru Extra Brut by Geoffroy is made from vines that are 30 years old on average and planted on clay and silt soils. While the Pinot Noir terroir is characterised by the presence of marl, the Chardonnay terroir rests on limestone.
This cuvée is made from the base wines of the year 2013. The dosage is 3 g/l.
Vinification and ageing
The hand-picked grapes are rigorously sorted on a table before undergoing a 48-hour cold maceration in open oak vats. The fermentation is spontaneous. No malolactic fermentation.
This cuvée is the result of a unique process in Champagne. Indeed, it is a Rosé champagne resulting from a maceration in the same vat of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. This unique contact between the skins of the two grape varieties develops a harmonious and unique aromatic palette.
The blend
Geoffroy's Blanc de Rose Premier Cru Extra Brut comprises a blend of Pinot Noir (50%) and Chardonnay (50%).
Blanc de Rose Premier Cru Extra Brut by Geoffroy: Characteristics and tasting tips
The tasting
Nose
The delicate nose blends floral fragrances (rose petal, violet) with a subtle note of grenadine.
Palate
A seductive minerality, the palate reveals delicious aromas of mandarin peel and pink grapefruit. The finish is persistent and harmoniously blends bitterness and freshness.
Food and wine pairing
Ideal as an aperitif, this exceptional rosé champagne will complement fish (salmon carpaccio, lightly marinated halibut, red tuna sashimi).
