Lady Gaga reveals a powerful and silky limited edition Dom Pérignon Rosé champagne

The producer

Dom Pérignon Champagne owes its name to Pierre Perignon, the famous monk and cellar master of the Abbey of Hautvillers in 1668, also known as Dom Pérignon. Legend says that Pierre Pérignon discovered what is known today as the Champagne method. Dom Pérignon is a luminous champagne house that is directly inspired by its founder's philosophy, which is to seek the ultimate perfection of champagne wine.

The vineyard

Dom Pérignon cultivates vines that comprise the Champagne region’s three main grape varieties, namely Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier. Stemming from absolutely exceptional terroirs, their champagnes are renowned for their quality.

The wine

Dom Pérignon Rosé captures the pure radiance of the red Pinot Noir grapes and harnesses its powerful expression, transposing it into a bold and assertive blend. Perfected over a period of almost twelve years, the slow and mastered transformation in the cellar gives rise to an elegant, chiaroscuro and complex Dom Pérignon Rosé champagne.

The ongoing artistic collaboration between Dom Pérignon and Lady Gaga, an ever-evolving artist, commenced in 2021. To mark the end of 2022, Lady Gaga is presenting her vision of Dom Pérignon Rosé, this time through an innovative, limited-edition case of Dom Pérignon Rosé Vintage 2008.

The vintage

A grey and misty sky dominated the 2008 viticultural year, a rare occurrence in what has been a solar and light-filled decade. Spring and summer were both marked by a lack of light and heat. It was September which, belatedly and miraculously, made the vintage. At the beginning of the harvest, on September 15th, the weather conditions were perfect: full sunshine and north/northeasterly winds. In order to take advantage of such a favourable turn of events, the harvest was spread out. The ripeness levels of the grapes surpassed all expectations and led to an unprecedented balance and utterly healthy grapes.

The tasting

Nose
The bouquet is chock-full of raspberry and wild strawberry aromas. Powdered notes of iris and violet swiftly blend with fruity aromas. On the nose, green aromas emerge, reminiscent of privet, angelica and camphor leaves.

Palate
The initial mouthfeel is tactile, full-bodied and silky. These sensations unfurl and steadily become bolder. The acidic framework, which is the signature of the vintage, weaves into the structure of the Pinot Noir varietal and reveals the very heart of the wine. The bold and persistent finish gives off fragrances of peonies and white pepper.
