Description
A refined vintage champagne with a beautiful structure
The estate
Nicknamed "Boll" by the people of Champagne or "Bolly" by the English, the timeless and mythical Champagne Bollinger House is part of the small circle of very great Champagne houses. The style of Bollinger champagne is defined through the exemplary precision brought to each moment of its elaboration. Respect for traditions, hand riddling of bottles, corking of magnum reserve bottles, the last cooper in residence in the region, this taste for excellence symbolizes the entire culture of Bollinger champagne since its creation in 1829 in Aÿ. More than an art, it is a heritage.
The vineyard
Bollinger owes its uniqueness to its 174 hectares spread over seven main Champagne vineyards, 85% of which are Grands and Premiers crus, allowing the house to be one of the few to produce its own grapes for its blends. The signature grape variety of the house, pinot noir, represents 60% of the vineyard's grape variety.
The wine
La Côte aux Enfants Blanc de Noirs is a Grand Cru from Aÿ, coming from the single eponymous plot. This 4-hectare plot, all in one piece, was put together (through successive acquisitions between 1926 and 1934) by Jacques Bollinger. The Bollinger House pays tribute to his visionary spirit by unveiling this first single-plot Brut cuvée.
Vinification and aging
This vintage champagne 2014 has benefited from a maturation time in the cellar, under cork, more than twice as long as the rules of the appellation.
Blend
La Côte aux Enfants Blanc de Noirs Ay Grand Cru Brut 2014 from Bollinger is a 100% Pinot Noir.
