Description

A rich and mineral Burgundy white wine

The estate

The story of the Vincent Girardin estate began in 1980. At the age of 19, Vincent Girardin,  born into a family that had been winegrowers since the 17th century, began his career with the two hectares of vines he inherited from his parents. A passionate winemaker, Vincent Girardin quickly established himself as one of the great names of the Côte de Beaune. Founded in 1992, Vincent Girardin has since become one of the finest names in Burgundy's Côte de Beaune. Since 2000, the talented Éric Germain has been following in Vincent Girardin's footsteps, passionately revealing the exceptional terroirs of Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet.

The vineyard

This Grand Cru stems from plots located in the heart of the Corton-Charlemagne appellation in the communes of Ladoix-Serrigny, Aloxe-Corton and Pernand-Vergelesses in the north of the Côte de Beaune. The vines, which are on average 50 years old, are planted on a soil composed of gravel and alluvium. The subsoil is made up of several successive layers of Comblanchien limestone, scree, Callovian limestone and pearly slab.

Winemaking and ageing

After manual harvesting, the grapes are fully pressed and the juice extracted at low pressure using a pneumatic press. Static settling takes place over 24 to 36 hours at low temperature. Alcoholic fermentation and ageing take place in barrels containing 25% new wood. The wine is aged for 14 months. The wine is lightly filtered before bottling.
