Description
A rich and mineral Burgundy white wine
The estate
The story of the beautiful Vincent Girardin house began in 1980. At the age of 19, Vincent Girardin joined the family profession of winemaking that it had been doing since the 17th century. He began his activities with the two hectares of vines he inherited from his parents. A passionate winegrower at heart, Vincent Girardin quickly made a name for himself among the great names of Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune. Founded in 1992, Vincent Girardin has since become one of the finest references in the appellation. Since 2000, the talented Eric Germain has been following in Vincent Girardin's footsteps, bringing out with passion the exceptional terroirs of Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet.
The vineyard
This Grand Cru comes from plots located in the heart of the Corton-Charlemagne appellation in the communes of Ladoix-Serrigny, Aloxe-Corton and Pernand-Vergelesses in the north of the Côte de Beaune. The vines are on average 50 years old and thrive on a soil made up of gravel and alluvium. It is made up of several successive layers of Comblanchien limestone, scree, Callovian limestone and a pearly slab.
Winemaking and ageing
After manual harvesting, the grapes are fully pressed and the juice extracted at low pressure using a pneumatic press. Static settling takes place over 24 to 36 hours at low temperature. Alcoholic fermentation and ageing take place in barrels containing 25% new wood. The wine is aged for 14 months. The wine is lightly filtered before bottling.
