Description
The elegance and complexity of a great white wine from Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru
The estate
Established since 1859, Maison Louis Jadot is a true benchmark in Burgundy. Its adventure began with the acquisition of a plot of land in 1826. Its trading activity led to its swift international recognition. Today and since 1992, the house is managed by Pierre-Henry Gagey and still ensures that Burgundy wines remain accessible to those who love high-quality wines.
At the head of Maison Louis Jadot since 1992, Pierre-Henry Gagey entrusted his position to Thomas Seiter (Bouchard Père et Fils) and role of General Manager to his son Thibault Gagey in September 2022.
The vineyard
This Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru 2021 by Louis Jadot is made from vineyards located in the communes of Puligny Montrachet and Chassagne Montrachet. This exceptional Burgundian terroir, with its limestone and clay soils, produces fine Bâtard-Montrachet wines.
The vintage
2021 is a year marked by severe frost at the beginning of April and unstable weather conditions throughout the year. Despite a below-average harvest, the quality is reflected through the floral and well-balanced white wines as well as vibrant, full and aromatic red wines.
Vinification and ageing
The hand-picked grapes are gently pressed before fermentation in barrels (1/3 of which are new) from the estate's cooperage. Aged for around 15 months on fine lees.
The blend
Chardonnay (100%).
