An exceptional wine from Ribera del Duero
The property
Located north of Madrid in the province of Castile and Leon not far from the prestigious estate Vega Sicilia, Dominio de Pingus is one of the biggest names in Spain.
It was in 1995 that Danish winemaker Peter Sisseck founded Dominio de Pingus. Sensing the extraordinary potential of the Ribera del Duero region and guided by the ambition to produce a great wine reflecting the expression of its terroir, this renowned winemaker has made a meticulous parcel selection of old vines of tinto fino, the local name of the tempranillo grape, to elevate Dominio de Pingus to the rank of the most famous wine estates in the world.
The vineyard
The vineyard of Dominio de Pingus is worked in a traditional way respecting the system of low vines " en vaso ". The confidential production of Dominio de Pingus, with extremely low yields, ranging from 20 hl/ha to only 9 hl/ha, makes it one of the most sought-after wines of Castile-Leon in the world.
The wine
Excellently crafted by Danish winemaker Peter Sisseck, Pingus embodies the quintessence of the expression of the great wines of Ribera del Duero. Made from a selection of very old vines planted on clay-limestone soils within the region of Castile and Leon, this great Spanish wine testifies to the typicity of the tinto fino, the local name of the tempranillo.
Vinification and aging
This wine is entirely fermented and aged in second-use barrels. Its aging continues until its bottling scheduled for June/July 2024.
Blend
Tempranillo (100%).
