Description
An ample and structured Burgundy Premier Cru
The estate
The Faiveley family, established in Nuits-Saint-Georges in the heart of the Côte de Nuits since 1825, is at the head of one of the finest estates in Burgundy. The seventh generation of the family, in the guise of the connoisseur siblings Erwan and Eve Faiveley, has since 2005 carried forward the work of this precious Burgundy jewel. With a vineyard of over 120 hectares, the estate is one of the largest in Burgundy, and also one of the most prestigious. With exceptional Grand Cru and Premier Cru plots, the Faiveley family boasts a remarkable winegrowing heritage.
The vineyard
Domaine Faiveley was originally established in the Côtes de Nuits at Nuits-Saint-Georges, but the company has gradually extended its vineyards to the Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise. Today, Domaine Faiveley owns 12 Grands Crus and 25 Premiers Crus in Burgundy and oversees an exceptional winegrowing heritage.
Domaine Faiveley's Premier Cru Les Cazetiers 2021 is a Gevrey-Chambertin wine made from a 2.04-hectare plot of old vines planted in 1958, 1989, 1990 and 1999.
Winemaking and ageing
The hand-picked grapes underwent a short pre-fermentation maceration before vinification in truncated wooden vats. Vatting lasted more than 3 weeks, followed by pressing to obtain juices of great purity. Aged for 16 to 18 months in the estate's historic vaulted cellars dating back to the 19th century.
