Description
A complex and elegant Oregon red wine
The estate
During a trip to the United States in 1961, Robert Drouhin, the third generation of the family, discovered the vineyards in Oregon and their wines. A few years later, after obtaining her degree in oenology, Véronique, his daughter, moved to Oregon to work in the vineyards with three pioneering winemaking families in the vast Dundee Hills appellation.
In 1987, Robert Drouhin decided to buy his first plots in this appellation.
In 2013, the Drouhin family acquired the Roserock estate located in the Eola-Amity Hills. For over 30 years, Véronique Drouhin and her brother Philippe have been producing natural wines with both passion and respect for the know-how of their Burgundian roots. The quality and refinement of these wines have led to the established reputation of Domaine Drouhin Wines.
The vineyard
Located at the southern tip of the Eola-Amity hills, the Roserock vineyard spreads across 45 hectares. The vines are planted on ancient volcanic soils and benefit from a cool climate and an altitude of between 120 and 260 metres. Bearing a LIVE certification, the Roserock estate produces exceptional quality Oregon wines that exhibit a unique aromatic character.
The wine
This Roserock Pinot Noir by the Drouhin Oregon estate stems from a rigorous selection of 35 plots in the Eola-Amity hills.
The vintage
Cool, wet conditions at the beginning of the year delayed budburst, which was offset by a hot, dry summer. Rainy spells at the end of August helped to refine the ripening process.
Vinification and ageing
In tune with Burgundian traditions, the grapes from 35 plots are hand-picked, sorted and then vinified separately.
The blend
Pinot Noir (100%).
