The estate
A great Pomerol property, Château Vieux Maillet is located on the right bank of Bordeaux.
The vineyard
Château Vieux Maillet reigns over an 8.65-hectare vineyard, planted in gravelly and sandy soils with clayey mollusc soils typical of Pomerol.
Vinification and ageing
Following the harvest, the grapes were subjected to a double selective sorting (manual and densimetric). Alcoholic fermentation was carried out in thermo-regulated vats and barrels. 10 to 15 days post-fermentation maceration. Total vatting of about a month. Ageing lasted about 14 months in barrels (40% new barrels) and in amphorae.
The blend
The Château Vieux Maillet 2020 is made from a blend of Merlot (80%), Cabernet Franc (15%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (5%).
