Description
The refinement and richness of a Sauternes Premier Cru Classé in an exceptional edition
The estate
A First Classified Growth of Sauternes in 1855, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is one of the most prestigious names in the iconic sweet wine appellation located in the south of the Bordeaux region.
The vineyard
Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey overlooks an exceptional terroir, comprising a 36-hectare vineyard that is exclusively reserved for the production of its Sauternes Premier Cru Classé wines.
The wine
Since 2016, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey has released a limited edition wine, for which the gold engraving "Femme et Raisins", created in 1928 by René Lalique, is decorated by the Lalique factory in Alsace.
The empty bottles are gilded at the Lalique factory and then sent to the château for bottling.
2019 is the fourth edition of this emblematic wine, each bottle of which is presented in a unique and numbered case.
An alliance between the French lifestyle and manners, Lafaurie-Peyraguey Golden Edition 2019 is the perfect marriage between the gold colour of Sauternes and the Alsatian excellence of the Lalique House.
The vintage
In Sauternes, the humidity was more pronounced than in the other appellations, leading to a decline in water stress. After a rainy spell, the warm days of September led to the occurrence of botrytis cinerea and favoured the concentration of the grapes. The harvest was carried out from 11 to 14 October.
The blend
This Lafaurie-Peyraguey Golden Edition 2019 comprises a blend of Semillon (93%) and Sauvignon Blanc (7%)
