A Sauternes fine wine with citrus aromas
The estate
A First Classified Growth of Sauternes in 1855, Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is one of the most prestigious names in the iconic sweet wine appellation located south of the Bordeaux region.
The vineyard
Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey has an exceptional terroir with a 30 hectare vineyard exclusively dedicated to the production of this First Classified Growth of Sauternes.
The vintage
In Sauternes, the humidity was felt more strongly than in other appellations in the year 2019, thus allowing for the reduction of water stress on the vines. After a rainy phase, the hot days of September allowed the botytris cinerea to develop consistently and concentrate the flavours of the fruit. The harvest took place from October 11 to 14.
The blend
Sémillon (93%), sauvignon blanc (7%)
The winemaking
Fermentation for 10 to 15 days in 225-litre French oak barrels.
The ageing
12 months in 225L barrels, of which 1/3 new oak. 6 months stainless steel tanks.
The tasting
The Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2019 reveals complex and elegant aromas. The nose displays a candied character, dominated by notes of citrus marmalade and citrus zest. On the palate, the Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey 2019 is rich and gourmet, ending in a tasty and refreshing finish.
