The property
Château Haut-Brion, located near Bordeaux, is an exceptional vineyard property, founded in the 16th century, and recognized as the oldest of the Grands Crus of Bordeaux. Covering 51 hectares, of which 48 are dedicated to red grape varieties and 3 to white grape varieties, the estate has been managed by the Dillon family since 1935.
The vineyard
The vineyard of this illustrious property of Pessac-Léognan stands out for its gravelly-sandy terroir on a clay subsoil.
The vintage
The year 2002 was very dry with low, well-distributed rainfall. The somewhat cool summer led to a delay in maturity. The harvest conditions were ideal from September 9th with warm and sunny days accompanied by a northeast wind. The health status was perfect.

Aging in barrels, 70% of which are new.

Merlot (51%)
