A fine red wine from Pomerol

The estate

Located to the northwest of Pomerol, Château de Sales is a historic estate on the right bank of Bordeaux and has been owned by the same family for over five centuries. Today, the Lambert heirs and their children perpetuate the legacy of this iconic estate that produces fine Pomerol wines.

The vineyard

Comprising a surface area of 47.60 hectares, Château de Sales’ vineyard is the largest in the Pomerol appellation.

The vintage

Following a mild and wet winter, the vines budded early. Two frosts occurred on May 5th and 6th, however they did not affect the vineyards of Château de Sales. Thanks to the estate’s terroir, the water stress caused by the heat during the summer months was limited. Harvesting began on September 20th and ended on October 8th. The grapes suggest a promising and fine vintage.

Vinification and ageing

The wine is aged in new barrels (15%) and 1 to 3 year-old barrels (85%).

Merlot (72.5%),

Cabernet Sauvignon (15%)

Cabernet Franc (12.5%).

The tasting

Colour

This wine showcases a beautiful purple colour.

Nose

Fine and complex, the nose blends black fruit fragrances with flavoursome woody notes.

Palate

An elegant attack precedes a full and balanced palate. The palate reveals intense aromas of ripe fruit (blackcurrant, black cherry). The finish is persistent and seductive with its fine and silky tannins.
