A fruity and delicate Premier Cru de Beaune

The property

Founded in 1750, Chanson is one of the most famous houses in Burgundy. The estate is located in a bastion erected in the early 16th century as a watchtower with 8-meter thick walls, nicknamed "La Tour des Filles" and today dedicated to the maturation of the house's wines. Well known to lovers of great Burgundy wines, the Domaine Chanson offers confidential vintages that brilliantly reveal the expression of the greatest wine-producing villages of the Côte de Beaune.

The vineyard

The Chanson estate covers 45 hectares of vines located in the most beautiful appellations of the Côte de Beaune, exclusively in Premiers and Grands Crus (Santenay, Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Beaune, Savigny-Les-Beaune, Corton...). The Chanson estate cultivates 1.8 ha of Chardonnay.

The wine

With a parcel of 4.3 hectares, Chanson is one of the major owners within the mosaic of parcels that make up the Clos des Mouches. A neighbor of the Premiers Crus of Pommard, this Beaune 1er Cru "Clos des Mouches" of the Chanson estate is ideally situated on the slopes of Mont Saint-Désiré, a sunny terroir facing south-east on a very stony clay-limestone soil.

The vintage

If 2019 starts with a mild winter, the spring is marked by temperature variations and a significant rainfall, leading to a lot of millerandage. The scorching summer was punctuated by thunderstorms that saved the vineyard.

Vinification and aging

A soft pressing precedes a traditional vinification. The wine is aged for 12 to 14 months in the 15th century Bastion with a moderate proportion of new barrels.

The robe has a beautiful pale gold colour.

The nose blends lemon and white fruit fragrances with subtle spicy notes.

Palate

Perfectly balanced, this vintage seduces with its ample and tight texture, its delicate spicy aromas and its persistent finish.

Food and wine pairing

This Beaune 1er Cru "Clos des Mouches" from the Chanson estate goes perfectly with foies gras, scallops just snacked as well as some cheeses (Comté, Cîteaux).
