Description
The structure and aromatic richness of a Beaune Premier Cru Monopole
The property
Founded in 1750, Chanson is one of the most famous houses in Burgundy. The estate is located in a bastion erected in the early 16th century as a watchtower with 8-meter thick walls, nicknamed "La Tour des Filles" and today dedicated to the maturation of the house's wines. Well known to lovers of great Burgundy wines, the Domaine Chanson offers confidential vintages that brilliantly reveal the expression of the greatest wine-producing villages of the Côte de Beaune.
The vineyard
The Chanson estate covers 45 hectares of vineyards located in the most beautiful appellations of the Côte de Beaune, exclusively in Premiers and Grands Crus (Santenay, Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Beaune, Savigny-Les-Beaune, Corton).
The wine
This 2019 Beaune 1er Cru "Clos des Fèves" Monopole from Domaine Chanson is made from a 3.80 hectare parcel located mid-slope in the heart of Beaune's Premier Crus. Clos des Fèves was listed as early as 1307 under the Latin name "Fae" (Latin for beech).
The vintage
If 2019 starts with a mild winter, the spring is marked by temperature variations and a significant rainfall, leading to a lot of millerandage. The scorching summer was punctuated by thunderstorms that saved the vineyard.
Vinification and maturation
Fermentation in whole bunches. The wine is aged for 14 to 18 months in the 15th century Bastion with a moderate proportion of new barrels.
The blend
This 2019 Beaune 1er Cru "Clos des Fèves" Monopole from Domaine Chanson is a 100% pinot noir.
Tasting
Dress
Brilliant, the dress is of a beautiful ruby colour.
Nose
The nose harmoniously blends delicate fragrances of rose, plum and cherry with a subtle vanilla note.
Palate
Complex and of a beautiful density, the mouth seduces by its constructed tannins, its structure, its persistence and the elegance of its final.
Food and wine pairing
This Beaune 1er Cru "Clos des Fèves" Monopole 2019 from the Chanson estate is an ideal accompaniment to game (pheasant), poultry (capon) or mature cheeses (Époisses, Langres).
