Description
Veuve Clicquot reveals a Vintage Rosé which unites balance and aromatic finesse
The estate
The globally successful brand, Veuve Clicquot, tells the story of a Champagne house whose legend was forged thanks to a woman: Madame Clicquot. A brilliant and daring woman, she succeeded in establishing herself in the business world, becoming, in just a few years, the "Grand Dame of Champagne". Guided by an innate sense of innovation and a perpetual quest for perfection, she invented the riddling table and the first blended rosé Champagne. The motto of the Veuve Clicquot house is proof of this unwavering demand: "One quality, the finest". The Veuve Clicquot Champagne House was a trailblazer in its decision to dress its bottles with a yellowy-orange label, a model which was patented in 1877.
The vineyard
With 390 hectares, the Veuve Clicquot house is the owner of one of the largest Champagne vineyards. This vineyard also stands out for its quality, as it is spread out over 12 of the 17 Grand Crus and 20 of the 44 Premier Crus in Champagne.
The wine
2012 is the 66th vintage to be presented since the creation of the house’s first vintage champagne in 1810. This Vintage Rosé 2012 by the Veuve Clicquot house is exclusively made from Grand and Premier Crus.
Winemaking and ageing
This Vintage Rosé 2012 by Veuve Clicquot is made from a blend of Pinot Noir (51%), Chardonnay (34%) and Pinot Meunier (15%).
This cuvée stands out through its percentage of still wine (13%), exclusively produced from the Pinot Noir grape variety in Bouzy, which are vinified and aged in oak barrels (11%). These wines impart power and aromatic intensity, and enhance the blend with subtle grilled, woody and vanilla notes.
Veuve Clicquot's Vintage Rosé 2012: Characteristics and tasting tips
Tasting
With a beautiful, dark pink colour and subtle coppery reflections, this Vintage Rosé 2012 by Veuve Clicquot seduces with its aromas of red fruits (wild strawberry) and saffron mixed with notes of pastry, fine tannins and a smooth touch. When being blended, the structure of the Pinot Noir harmoniously combines with the elegance, finesse and balance given by the Chardonnay.
Food and wine pairings
This exceptional rosé champagne goes perfectly with lobster, abalone, langoustine and even duck.
