Description
The precision and aromatic richness of a Blanc de Blancs champagne
The producer
Located in Mesnil-sur-Oger, to the south of Epernay, for 6 generations, the Pierre Péters Champagne House has been exclusively dedicated to the production of Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Champagnes since 1919.
The Pierre Péters House is renowned for the high quality of its champagnes, which are vinified in small vats and then aged on fine lees, in order to authentically express the richness of the Champagne terroir and to preserve the varietal identity of the king grape variety, Chardonnay.
The vineyard
With a surface area of 19 hectares, the house's vineyards are located exclusively on the Côte des Blancs. This emblematic terroir in the Champagne region owes its uniqueness to the chalky soil on its hillside.
The wine
A family venture, L'Étonnant Monsieur Victor is a multi-vintage Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru champagne, each edition of which is unveiled with a label designed by Victor, Pierre Péters' son. The name of this plot-based champagne - MK - refers to the artist Takashi Murakami, who was the main source of inspiration for the creation of each of the labels of this champagne. The two numbers correspond to the base year of the blend ("15" for 2015). The dosage is between 3.5 and 4.5 g/l.
Vinification and ageing
This champagne comprises a base wine, made from grapes that stem from the best parcel of the "Chétillon" terroir, and a rigorous selection of the best wines from the house's perpetual reserve started in 1988 (kept in stainless steel vats, concrete and tuns). Following the principles of the Solera method, the structure of the older wines harmoniously blends with the liveliness and freshness of the younger wines. Aged on lees for 6 years.

L'Étonnant Monsieur Victor Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Édition MK.15 by Pierre Péters: Characteristics and tasting tips
The tasting
Colour
The brilliant colour of this champagne showcases a beautiful golden hue. The effervescence is fine and discreet.
Nose
The rich nose opens with fruity (yellow fruit) and floral (acacia flower) fragrances. With aeration, the bouquet becomes more complex, revealing notes of saffron, citrus peel and hazelnut.
Palate
The attack is precise and smooth. Sweet spices, grapefruit, mirabelle plum and fresh hazelnut aromas all blend harmoniously and lead to a pleasant finish that reveals, with a fine salinity, delicious notes of candied mandarin oranges and roasted almonds.
