The property

The Champagne House Perrier-Jouët was founded in 1811 by Pierre Perrier and his wife Adèle Jouët. Originating from exceptional terroirs of Champagne (Aÿ, Mailly-Champagne, Avize and Cramant), the cuvées of the house are recognized for their unique style combining aromatic richness, refinement and subtlety. Perrier-Jouët became from 1861 the champagne of choice for Queen Victoria, and then that of the French Imperial Court.

Owned since 1959 by the Champagne company GH Mumm, the House Perrier Jouët owes its uniqueness notably to the iconic bottle of the prestige cuvée "Belle époque" imagined in 1969 by Émile Gallé.

The vineyard

Perfect expression of the house's style and resulting from a most harmonious blend, the cuvée Belle Époque 2015 from Perrier-Jouët is made from emblematic crus of the Champagne (Cramant, Avize, Chouilly, Mesnil-sur-Oger, Vertus and Mailly). This champagne benefits from a minimum aging of 6 years in the house's cellars.

The cuvée

Iconic, the champagne Perrier-Joüet Belle Epoque is the first cuvée adorned with the Japanese white anemone, a motif created for the house in 1902 by Émile Gallé, master of Art Nouveau.

The vintage

Following a mild winter, a period of drought set in from mid-May, leading to early flowering. The month of July was exceptionally dry and hot, breaking temperature records. However, rainfall in mid-August favored the maturation of the berries, thus providing optimal conditions for a harvest of healthy and perfectly ripe grapes.

Blend

This vintage champagne 2015 is the result of a blend of chardonnay, pinot noir and pinot meunier.

Tasting

Color
The color reveals a delicate pale gold.

Nose
The nose combines subtle fruity fragrances (white peach, pink grapefruit) and floral (linden, hawthorn).

Palate
Balanced and beautifully fresh, the palate exhales delicious aromas of poached pear, sugar as well as subtly spicy notes (cumin and green pepper).

Service

For optimal tasting, serve at around 12°C.

Food and wine pairings

With its harmony and finesse, this cuvée is the ideal partner for prawns accompanied by creamy polenta, sole meunière or cheeses such as parmesan or comté.
