Description
A fresh and structured vintage champagne
The producer
Founded in 1776 in Reims, the Louis Roederer Champagne House has remained family-owned and independent. After over 200 years of existence, the Louis Roederer House is still owned by the same family. Today, headed by Frédéric Rouzaud, who represents the family’s seventh generation, Louis Roederer embodies the excellence of Champagne wines throughout the world, due to its vintages that are crafted like true works of art.
The vineyard
Comprising nearly 241 hectares of vines, the Louis Roederer House’s strength comes from its extraordinary vineyard, made up entirely of Grands and Premiers Crus in the Marne Valley, the Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs. An impressive patchwork of terroirs, the Louis Roederer vineyard is divided into 410 plots that reflect the diversity of the Champagne region’s soils.
The wine
This Louis Roederer Vintage 2015 is made exclusively from the "La Montagne" vineyard, whose terroir extends over the communes of Verzy and Chouilly.
The vintage
The mild and humid conditions at the beginning of the year preceded a sunny, particularly hot and dry summer. The rainy spells from mid-August onwards saved the vineyard. Harvested at optimal ripeness, the grapes gave rise to a fine vintage that blends concentration and aromatic richness.
Vinification and ageing
34% of the vinification is carried out in the cellar. 24% malolactic fermentation. The dosage for this Brut Champagne is 8 g/litre.
The blend
Pinot Noir (70%)
Chardonnay (30%)
Louis Roederer’s Vintage 2015: Characteristics and tasting tips
The tasting
Colour
A beautiful yellow colour with golden highlights. The effervescence is intense and lively.
Nose
A perfect expression of the dominant Pinot Noir in this blend, the nose blends fruity (redcurrant, mirabelle plum, vine peach), spicy (white pepper) and acidic fragrances.
Palate
Harmoniously blending liveliness, concentration and power, the palate is seduced by this wine’s precise structure and freshness. Throughout the tasting, fruity, chocolate (cocoa bean) and roasted aromas blend together harmoniously. The finish is persistent and generous, with delicious fruity notes and a refreshing salinity.
