Description
The finesse and purity of a generous Blanc de Blancs by Larmandier-Bernier
The producer
Located on the Côte des Blancs terroir, the Larmandier-Bernier Champagne House has been cultivating vines for over 8 generations. Since 1988, Pierre Larmandier has been at the helm of the 16-hectare family estate, leading the house with the ambition of producing exceptional vintages that authentically express the purity of the Champagne terroirs.
The choice to eliminate chemical products and to practice ploughing, use indigenous yeasts and carry out long ageing on lees in casks and wooden barrels confers to Larmandier-Bernier wines a rare and unique minerality and expression of terroir.
The wine
A non-vintage cuvée, Longitude Premier Cru Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs by Larmandier-Bernier reveals the generous, pure and fresh expression of a champagne produced from the greatest terroirs of the famous Côte des Blancs in Champagne. On average 35 years old, the vines have been worked for more than 20 years on biodynamic practices with total respect for the terroir.
The wine
Historically named "Blanc de Blancs", this champagne, which has become a reference for the house, bears the symbolic name of "Longitude" for two reasons. This cuvée stems from the terroirs of Vertus, Oger, Avize and Cramant, which give rise to a longitudinal line located near the 4th meridian. "Longitude" also pays tribute to the style of this Blanc de Blancs champagne, which displays a unique purity, length and minerality, all features of fine chalk terroirs.
Winemaking and ageing
Longitude Premier Cru Extra Brut Blanc de Blancs by Larmandier-Bernier is the fruit of extremely precise work in a vineyard that is entirely cultivated using biodynamic methods.
Delicate pressing before settling and barreling. Natural alcoholic fermentation then malolactic fermentation in barrels and tuns, as well as the first year's ageing on lees. After blending, additional bottle ageing for at least 2 years is carried out in the house’s cool cellars. Disgorgement is carried out 6 months before release. The dosage of this Extra Brut champagne is 3 g/litre.
