Description
Well-balanced and rich, a seductive rosé champagne
The estate
Fleur de Miraval is the only Champagne House that exclusively produces Rosé Champagne. Stemming from the ambitious collaborative project between the Jolie-Pitt and Perrin families. A meticulously orchestrated artistic creation with Brad Pitt’s full involvement, Fleur de Miraval is the embodiment of five years of work and research conducted in high secrecy. Established in Mesnil-sur-Oger, in the Champagne region since 1919, the Péters family have been harvesting and handling these vines for six generations. They embarked on the Jolie-Pitt and Perrin adventure by providing their expertise and winemaking know-how. A lover of the wines produced by Château de Beaucastel and close to the Perrin family, Rodolphe Péters duly agreed to working on this project.
The wine
Blending old Chardonnay vines and young Pinot Noir vines, this ER2 by the Fleur de Miraval Champagne House (for Édition Rosé numéro 2) aspires to be a rosé champagne with a different and unique style. The legend states that the Countess of Miraval, born in Provence, only drank Rosé champagne, this wine pays tribute to her exquisite taste.
With 2017 as the base year, this rosé champagne is unique due to its everlasting supply of different vintages. The richness that characterises the 2012 vintage blends with the balance that gives the 2014 vintage its charm.
The dosage is 4.5 g/l.
The vinification and ageing
This Rosé Champagne benefits from three years of ageing on lees before being put on the market.
The blend
Chardonnay (75%) and Pinot Noir (25%).
Fleur de Miraval’s ER2: Characteristics and tasting tips
The tasting
Colour
Very elegant, the colour is a delicate pink, slightly coppery.
Nose
Complex and elegant, the nose opens up to a very rich aromatic palette (floral fragrances, pink grapefruit, vine peach, dried fruit, toasted almonds and subtle notes of toasted pastries). When aerating this wine, the bouquet becomes more complex, revealing aromas of spices, candied lemon peel, mandarin orange and white peach.
Palate
Full and airy, this wine seduces the palate with its fine effervescence. The palate, showcasing its subtle buttery notes, is marked by this champagne’s power, balance and freshness. The finish is persistent and sustained by a lively chalky minerality.
