Description
A refined and delicate vintage champagne by Deutz
The estate
The Deutz Champagne House was founded in 1838 in Aÿ by two Prussians, one of which was William Deutz. One was a wine merchant and the other sold champagne. The two founders were both equally involved in bottling, disgorging, dosage and labelling, even before they owned their own champagne and vineyards. Throughout the 20th century, the heirs of the founders gradually shaped the vineyard by buying plots in the best terroirs of the Champagne region. Today, the Deutz Champagne House is owned by the famous Roederer family. The great history of Deutz champagnes portrays a harmonious style between both virtuosity and refinement.
The blend
Cuvée William Deutz 2008 comprises a blend of 62% Pinot Noir (Aÿ, Bouzy, Ambonnay, Verzenay), 34% Chardonnay (Avize, Mesnil-sur-Oger) and 4% Pinot Meunier (Pierry).
The tasting
Colour
Crystal clear, this champagne reveals subtle golden hues. The effervescence is fine and persistent.
Nose
Rich and complex, the nose blends beautifully fresh fragrances of yellow fruit fragrances (vine peaches, pears, mirabelle plum).
Palate
Balanced and lively, the palate is seduced with its notes of ripe yellow fruit, its minerality and its subtle alliance between complexity and freshness, giving a delicate sensation of harmony. The finish of this wine is silky and refined.
Food and wine pairing
Enjoy as an aperitif, this William Deutz 2008 Champagne will complement caviar, razor clams, lobster, foie gras, fish (grilled or served with a sauce) or white meats subtly enhanced by exotic flavours.
Cellaring
This vintage champagne can be kept in the cellar for several decades in order to reveal its full aromatic range.
