Description
The minerality and aromatic richness of a fine Champagne wine
The estate
Founded in 1760, the Delamotte Champagne House is one of the five oldest houses in the Champagne region. Located in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, in Mesnil-sur-Oger, the Delamotte House shares the same goal-oriented approach as the mythical neighbouring house, Salon. Under the direction of Didier Depond, the Houses benefit from the same sales team, a single vineyard division and a shared Cellar Master who all watch over the destiny of the two sister houses. Delamotte is thus one of the few wine merchants to work with passion and respect for the environment, in order to express the unique terroir of Champagne.
The vineyard
The elegant Delamotte style stems from the unique location of its vineyards. All the grapes come from the Grands Crus in the Côte des Blancs, Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Avize and Cramant.
Vinification and ageing
Vinified in vats, Maison Delamotte’s Blanc de Blancs is aged on laths for 4 to 5 years which brings out the finesse and elegance of this wine.
The blend
Maison Delamotte’s Blanc de Blancs is a 100% Chardonnay, blended with a maximum of 10% reserve wines.
The tasting
This Blanc de Blancs by Maison Delamotte seduces with its aromatic bouquet that combines fruity and brioche notes. Exuding a mineral expression, conferred by its chalky terroir, the palate reveals beautiful evolutionary notes, the result of its ageing on lees.
Food and wine pairing
Ideal as an aperitif with crunchy radishes coated with a hint of fleur de sel, this Blanc de Blancs champagne by Maison Delamotte goes perfectly with oysters and grilled fish.
Service
For an optimal tasting experience, serve around 8°C in an elegant tulip-shaped wine glass. Aerating this wine will develop the mineral sensation and reveal the complexity conferred by its time spent on lees.
