Description
A radiant and balanced vintage champagne
The estate
An essential reference for great Champagne wines, the Charles Heidsieck House maintains a prestigious heritage with two thousand year old chalk pits. The pioneering Charles Heidsieck began to distinguish itself from the end of the 1980s through showcasing its multi-vintage Brut champagne’s exceptional capacity for aromatic evolution. In 1987, Charles Heidsieck was the first Champagne house to indicate its “cellaring” year so as to follow the evolution of the wine over time.
The vineyard
The Charles Heidsieck Champagne House owns a vineyard of around 60 hectares in Marne and Aube. This vineyard has received sustainable viticulture and High Environmental Value certifications. In addition to its own vineyard and following the Champagne model, Charles Heidsieck supplements its vineyard through long-term supply contracts with rigorously selected wine-growers and cooperatives.
The wine
In line with 2005, the Vintage Rosé 2006, produced from a selection of 15 Grands Crus and Premiers Crus, follows in the footsteps of exceptional years.
The vintage
With sugar-packed berries displaying a excellent level of ripeness, the quality of the 2006 harvests foreshadowed the birth of a vintage rosé champagne, created only during great years.
Winemaking and ageing
The Vintage Rosé 2006 was subject to a long ageing process of more than 7 years on lees.
Blend
Charles Heidsieck’s Vintage Rosé 2006 is made from a blend of Pinot Noir (63%), Chardonnay (37%) and 8% from red wines from Bouzy, Ambonnay, Verzenay, Hautvillers and Les Riceys.
Tasting
Colour
The wine is a pale shimmery pink with pearly reflections which highlight the delicate effervescence of the string of bubbles.
Nose
The nose reveals an aromatic palette with delicious and powerful scents upon notes of ripe, candied fruit and strawberries, which evolve upon notes of sweet spices alongside fragrances of cinnamon and cardamom.
Palate
The palate seduces from the attack with its deliciously silky and creamy texture. The palate, which is full of depth, invites you on a real journey of flavours upon notes of ripe fruit and pastry, followed by the freshness of spicy and liquorice notes. The finish is warm and persistent.
