Description
A powerful, complex and elegant red wine from Ambonnay by Charles Heidsieck
The producer
The Charles Heidsieck Champagne House is an unrivalled reference, boasting a prestigious heritage with two-thousand-year-old chalk cellars. A pioneer, Charles Heidsieck stood out in the late 1980s by highlighting the exceptional aromatic evolution of its multi-vintage Brut Champagne. In 1987, Charles Heidsieck was the first Champagne house to mention the "cellaring" date in order to follow the evolution of the wine over time.
The vineyard
The Charles Heidsieck House owns a vineyard of around 60 hectares in the Marne and Aube regions. This vineyard is certified as a sustainable viticulture site and has been awarded the High Environmental Value certification. In addition to its own vineyard and following the traditional Champagne model, Charles Heidsieck completes its yields with long-lasting supply contracts with meticulously selected winegrowers and cooperatives in Champagne.
The wine
Made from a rigorous selection of the finest terroirs by the Cellar Master Cyril Brun, this Ambonnay 2019 marks the house's wish to reissue a limited series of wines from the finest Coteaux Champenois. This exceptional cuvée is made from grapes that stem from the "Les Champsots" parcel, located in the heart of the Ambonnay terroir, an emblematic Grand Cru located in the south of the Montagne de Reims.
Vinification and ageing
This wine is aged for one year in old oak barrels.
The blend
Charles Heidsieck's Ambonnay 2019 is a 100% Pinot Noir.
