Description
A fresh, lively and delicious Extra Brut rosé champagne
The producer
Founded in Reims in 1981, Bruno Paillard is one of the youngest Champagne Houses. With an uncompromisable selection of terroirs, the exclusive use of first presses, blends made from a vast collection of reserve wines and an ageing time that is twice as long as required by appellation specifications, the Bruno Paillard champagne range reflects this constant quest for excellence and this desire to produce a "very personal style".
The vineyard
The Bruno Paillard Champagne House overlooks an exceptional and patiently built vineyard, spread over 32 hectares of vines and 15 growths, 12 of which are classified as "Grand Crus". The vineyard brings together the great terroirs of Oger, Le Mesnil sur Oger, Cumières and Verzenay as well as the exceptional Cru des Riceys, situated at the south of Champagne.
The wine
True to Bruno Paillard's style, only the first press is used to express all the purity of the fruit in this multi-vintage champagne.
Vinification
This multi-vintage champagne is blended from white wine obtained by pressing and then separating the juice from the skins. The red wine stems from grapes from Verzenay, Bouzy, Mailly or Les Riceys in varying proportions depending on the vintage, with prolonged maceration of the juice on the skins. Like all Bruno Paillard champagnes, the Rosé Première Cuvée Extra Brut has a very low dosage of 6g/l. After disgorging, the champagne is left to rest for a further 5 months before being sold. The date of disgorgement is indicated on the back label.
Ageing
The Champagne Rosé Première Cuvée by Bruno Paillard is aged on its lees for 3 years.
The blend
The Rosé Première Cuvée by Bruno Paillard is mainly composed of Pinot Noir, but is blended with a secret proportion of Chardonnay from the north of the Côte des Blancs.
Champagne Rosé Première Cuvée by Bruno Paillard: Characteristics and tasting tips
The tasting
Colour
The Rosé Première Cuvée by Bruno Paillard has a beautiful golden copper colour. In its youth, raspberry-coloured hues appear, while age brings out salmon-coloured hues.
Nose
The expressive aromatic bouquet reveals notes of small acidic red fruits before giving way to notes of Morello cherry, wild strawberry or floral notes evoking violets. Lemon notes bring a great freshness to the ensemble.
Palate
From the outset, the palate is enchanted by the perfect marriage between a lively and delicious expression. Flavoursome notes of ripe red fruit coat the palate while maintaining a great elegance without any heaviness. The pure and clear finish is long and lengthy.
Food and wine pairing
This fine rosé champagne will complement a meal. It can be served with white meats, poultry as well as mixed salads and cheeses.
