Description
The precision and aromatic richness of a Rosé champagne
The estate
Founded in 2005, the Barons de Rothschild Champagne House is a heartfelt family creation and is the fruit of the unprecedented alliance between the three estates (Château Mouton Rothschild, Château Clarke, Château Lafite Rothschild). The aim is to enhance the majestic terroir of Champagne, which embodies quality and beams a luxurious lifestyle well beyond its borders. For over 250 years, the Rothschild family's ambition has been to "achieve greatness through greatness". With its wealth of winegrowing experience in Bordeaux, the Rothschild family has been producing excellent champagnes that blend both know-how and tradition.
The house’s headquarters has been based in Reims since 2007 and is surrounded by illustrious Champagne houses. The Barons de Rothschild Champagne House is built on a set of values: utter excellence, flavour and conviviality and unveils vintages whose unique style harmoniously combines finesse, balance and purity.
The vineyard
Barons de Rothschild's "Rare Collection" Rosé 2012 stems from Grands Crus and Premiers Crus in the Champagne region. The Chardonnay grapes come from Avize, Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Cramant and the Pinot Noir from Verzenay and Vertus.
The vintage
A long winter preceded a cool spring with little sunshine. Although heavy rainfall and hail had an impact on yields until the end of July, the warmer conditions of August salvaged the vintage. Despite low yields, the 2012 vintage boasts a very high quality.
Vinification and ageing
Exclusive use of the cuvée (first press). Vinification by plot in small 20hl stainless steel tanks and a small proportion in barrels. The red Pinot Noir grapes are vinified in the house's dedicated vat room. The wine is aged on its fine lees for 9 months in small vats, along with regular stirring of the lees, followed by at least 8 years of ageing in the cellar. The dosage of this extra brut cuvée is 4 g/l and the resting period after disgorgement is at least 12 months.
The blend
92% Chardonnay
8% Pinot Noir red wine.

This "Rare Collection" Rosé 2012 by Barons de Rothschild will complement duck breast, venison served with a Grand Veneur sauce, and also, due to its structure, spicy Asian or Oriental dishes.
