Description
The refinement and complexity of an Amarone della Valpolicella Classico wine
The estate
Allegrini, the largest producer in the Valpolicella appellation, is one of the most prestigious Italian references in the world.
Established since the 16th century, the Allegrini family is at the helm of over 100 hectares of vines that spread over the most emblematic crus of Valpolicella, in Italy.
The Allegrini family's Amarone wines reflect a unique know-how passed down from generation to generation and a perfect mastery of the Appassimento (passerillage) process. They boast a bold identity and a unique style.
The vineyard
Allegrini's 2015 Riserva Fieramonte is an Amarone della Valpolicella Classico wine that stems from a vineyard situated at an altitude of 415 metres on stony soil, rich in stony material, magnesium and iron.
The vintage
2015 was a particularly hot year, which required irrigation on the high-slope vineyards to reduce the impact of water stress. The rainy spells at the end of August saved the vineyards and ensured an optimal ripening of the grapes until the harvest.
Vinification and ageing
Hand-picked at the end of September, the grapes are dried naturally for many weeks in a special facility so that they lose 40 to 50% of their original weight. In early January, the grapes are destemmed and then gently pressed. Fermentation in steel vats before ageing for 48 months in French oak barrels. The wines are then blended for 6 months before bottling. A final stage of bottle ageing for one year is carried out before the wine is marketed.
The blend
Corvina Veronese (45%)
Corvinove (45%)
Rondinella (5%)
Oseleta (5%).
