The stand-out characteristic of summer 2021 was the cool summer nights, with average temperatures of 15°C and minimum temperatures as low as 11°C! This cocktail gave rise to a 2021 vintage marked by a wonderful aromatic intensity that is easily perceptible on the nose.
Château d’Esclans is situated at the heart of Provence, north-east of Saint-Tropez, with the Mediterranean as its backdrop. As a négociant and winemaker, Cave d’Esclans identifies the vineyards, grapes and wines from the Château d’Esclans, as well as other local producers, to create what is considered today to be the best rosé in the world. The Château d’Esclans is an extraordinary estate at the heart of Provence. The Château is known for its old vines of grenache, producing grapes with a higher concentration of aromas than young vines.
Expertise blending traditional and modern techniques. After a precise selection, the grapes are hand-picked at night before being transported to the cellars. The grapes are then sorted using optical sorting technology, then destemmed and pressed gently and carefully at 7-8°C to prevent oxidation. Blending is then performed using the best free-run and pressed juice from grenache, cinsault, syrah, carignan and vermentino varieties. Fermentation and ageing then begin, in stainless-steel tanks with individual temperature control to guarantee the Whispering Angel quality.
With its pleasant pale colour, Whispering Angel offers a great deal of purity along with subtle fruity notes of citrus and fresh red fruit. It is initially rounded and generous on the palate, underscored by a lovely acidity that adds texture to the wine. The aromatic structure is fine and elegant, offering a little more length without losing any of its crisp quality. Château d’Esclans is impressive and concentrated. It is a unique blend of freshness and complexity, body and elegance.
