The estate

In the heart of Sicily's inland mountains, the Regaleali estate of the Tasca d'Almerita family has been writing its history for several centuries. Acquired in 1830 and cultivated since 1837 by the Tasca d'Almerita family, the Tenuta Regaleali is the genesis of the Tasca adventure. With rigorous attention to the management of their vineyard, which is made up of Italian and international grape varieties, the Tasca Conti d'Almerita - Tenuta Regaleali produces fine Italian wines that are renowned for their quality, aromatic richness and refinement.

The vineyard

Tenuta Regaleali reigns over 382 hectares of vines that are perched on 6 hills at an altitude of between 450 and 850 metres, spread over a mosaic of soils that give this terroir a unique character.

The vintage

A mild, dry winter preceded a cool spring. The summer, marked by mild temperatures combined with rainy spells but not excessively so, increased the vine’s water reserves and led to a gradual and homogeneous maturation of the grapes.

Vinification and ageing

Skin contact maceration for 25 days. The wine is aged in 500-litre chestnut barrels for 26 months.

The blend

Produced in DOC Contea di Sclafani, this 2016 Riserva del Conte by Tasca Conti d'Almerita - Tenuta Regaleali comprises a blend of Perricone and Nero d'Avola.

The tasting

Colour

The colour is a beautiful and deep ruby red.

Nose

The complex nose blends fragrances of ripe fruit, walnut shells, berries and mint with intense notes of herbs (sage) and sweet spices (thyme).

Palate

The mouth is seduced by this wine’s power, acidity and freshness conferred by the terroir of origin. Dry in their youth, the tannins become more refined as the wine develops over time. The palate is balanced, harmonious and very elegant, with intense aromas of ripe fruit.
