Description
An aromatic and delicate Tuscan white wine by Querciabella
The estate
Since its creation in 1974, Querciabella has been producing fine Tuscan wines, all while paying the utmost attention to the terroir and traditions. This avant-garde and dedicated estate, located in the heart of the Chianti region to the south of Florence, is known as one of the pioneers in Italian organic and biodynamic farming.
The wine
Produced since 1988, Batàr by Querciabella is made from a selection of vineyards from the Toscana IGT. Located between 350 and 600 metres above sea level, these exceptional terroirs are distinctive due to their patchwork of soils (sandstone, galestro, clay and schist) which greatly contribute to the unique signature style of this wine.
The vineyard has been managed in an organic manner since 1988 and has been using biodynamic farming methods since 2000.
The label was designed by the Italian painter, Bernardino Luino.
The vintage
The mild winter preceded a wet spring. Despite these weather conditions, the flowering and fruit set periods were even and very high quality, promising a great vintage. From the beginning of May onwards, the extreme heat did not cause any water stress thanks to the water reserves accumulated following the rainy spells throughout spring. The month of September was marked by day-time and night-time temperature variations, which were ideal and ensured the progressive and optimal ripening of the grapes. The harvest took place from September 10th to 17th.
The vinification and ageing
A plot-by-plot vinification in barrels, enabling each batch to express its own identity. Aged for over 9 months in fine grain French oak barrels (20% of which are new), with regular stirring of the lees.
The blend
This Batàr 2019 by Querciabella comprises a blend of Chardonnay (50%) and Pinot Blanc (50%).
Storage
Enjoy today, this Tuscan white wine can be cellared until 2039 and beyond, to express its full complexity and aromatic richness.
