The Abbey of Badia a Passignano, founded in 881, is one of the 6 properties of the Antinori family. The estate is located in Sambuca Val di Pesa, 3km to the south of the Tenuta Tignanello estate, in Tuscany, Italy.
The Antinori Badia a Passignano estate covers 223 hectares of which 56 hectares are planted with vines on limestone soils, mainly Sangiovese with 5,000 to 7,000 vines per hectare, plus Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.
The Badia a Passignano estate testifies to a prestigious heritage, illustrated by the estate's archives in Florence. In 1983, a thousand-year-old vine of the vitis vinifera variety was even found on the estate.
The wines of the Badia a Passignano estate are renowned for their expressive profile, blending power and aromatic purity. The wines are produced with a great respect for balance and the woody notes do not mask the elegance of the fruit. The wines are full-bodied and robust on the palate, but always with very fine, silky tannins.
Badia a Passignano remains a reference in the Chianti Classico appellation, with wines that have a bold identity and accurately portray their terroir.
