Established in Italy, more specifically in Tuscany, for over 1,000 years, the Frescobaldi family gained considerable influence during the period of the Republic of Florence and the development of the city's banking industry. They are also famous for having taken part in major works such as the Santo Spirito Basilica and the Santa Trinita Bridge.
Owned by the Frescobaldi family since the 10th century, Tenuta Castiglioni is the focal point of the family's winegrowing history. It was here that the Frescobaldi family began their winegrowing activities in 1300. By 1500, the wines of Tenuta Castiglioni were making a name for themselves at the Papal Court and the English Court of Henry VIII.
Today, Tenuta Castiglioni remains one of the 6 pillars of the Frescobaldi family, along with the estates of Tenuta CastelGiocondo, Tenuta Ammiraglia, Tenuta Perano, Castello Nipozzano and Castello Pomino.
Along the ancient Via Castiglioni, Tenuta Castiglioni is set in the magnificent hills of Val di Pesa, between Siena and Florence, in the heart of Tuscany.
The cool sea breeze from the Tyrrhenian Sea combined with the heat of the day creates a unique combination that allows the richness of the microclimate and soils to be expressed through the structure of the wines produced on the estate.
Structure, elegance and intensity of fruit, the wines of Tenuta Castiglioni Frescobaldi reveal the full expression of Tuscany in a modern, contemporary style. Produced in the IGT Toscana appellation, Giramonte is a rare wine. It accurately reflects the characteristics of its terroir and the vineyard's microclimate, and is a modern incarnation of the excellence of great Tuscan red wines. Intense and full-bodied, Tenuta Frescobaldi di Casteglioni faithfully reflects the expertise of the Frescobaldi family and the identity of Tuscany.
