Description
An exceptional Australian Chardonnay
The estate
A symbol of excellence, the Penfolds Estate has stood as a symbol of great Australian wines since the beginning of the 20th century, largely thanks to the tenacity of a daring character: Mary Penfold. The famous Briton and her husband Christopher Rawson arrived in Australia in 1844 and quickly acquired a 200-hectare estate in the heart of Adelaide. Seduced by this wine haven, Mary Penfold devoted herself body and soul to the management of the estate, making it the largest wine producer in South Australia.
Marked by depth, elegance and complexity, Penfolds wines have been acclaimed by critics for decades and have received countless awards for their quality.
The wine
Patience, refinement, demand and more than 144 winemaking trials have given life to a Penfolds emblem known as "Yattarna". The attribution of the "Bin 144" appellation pays tribute to this pioneering work in winemaking. By selecting only the best Chardonnay grapes from cool climate regions, Yattarna embodies Penfolds' ongoing commitment to its initial goal: to create a white wine of exceptional quality.
The vineyard
The Yattarna Chardonnay cuvée is made from a rigorous selection of emblematic plots from the Penfolds estate. This wine embodies the expression of Australia's greatest terroirs while elegantly asserting the style of the Penfolds House.
Vinification and ageing
During an eight-month ageing in French oak barrels, 44% of which are new, the wines acquire complexity and depth.
