Description
A silky and delicious Corton Grand Cru wine
The estate
Maison Louis Max, an illustrious reference for Burgundy wines was founded in 1859. The estate reigns over some twenty hectares of vines that spread over prestigious appellations in Burgundy.
Although the Genevan businessman Stanko Subotić acquired the estate, this lover of Burgundian terroirs has surrounded himself with brilliant experts such as Jean-François Joliette and David Duban in order to produce great wines that express the authenticity and excellence of these exceptional terroirs.
Louis Max is one of the largest organic and Ecocert-certified estates. The vineyards are managed with a deep respect for nature and with minimal human intervention, resulting in wines that are recognised by the greatest international critics.
The vineyard
Louis Max's 2019 "Les Perrières" is a Corton Grand Cru wine made from vineyards that spread over three communes in the Côte de Beaune (Aloxe-Corton, Pernand-Vergelesses and Ladoix-Serrigny). Although the name of this climate refers to the stony soil of this wine-growing area, the vines are planted on a clay-limestone subsoil.
Vinification and ageing
Manual harvest followed by a rigorous sorting of the grapes. Traditional vinification using indigenous yeasts (50% of whole grapes). Vatting for more than 15 days with punching down. Cold maceration is avoided in order to preserve freshness. Aged in oak barrels for 18 months (20% of which are new).
The blend
Pinot Noir (100%).
