Description
A refined Volnay Premier Cru
The estate
Founded in 1859, Maison Louis Jadot was founded following the acquisition of the Beaune Premier Cru Clos des Ursules in 1826. Owner of prestigious vineyards, Louis Jadot perpetuates a wealth of know-how that has been handed down from generation to generation, thus offering wine lovers Burgundy's finest.
The vineyard
En l'Ormeau Domaine Gagey by Maison Louis Jadot is a Volnay Premier Cru wine that stems from a 0.12-hectare vineyard. The vines are planted on thick clay soils, similar to those found on the famous Premier Cru Bousse d'Or.
Winemaking and ageing
Once the grapes have been harvested by hand in small crates, they are sorted by hand and destemmed. Maceration is carried out in open wooden or stainless steel vats for 3 to 4 weeks. Punching of the cap is carried out twice a day during fermentation. Approximately 18 months in barrels made by the cooperage of Louis Jadot, of which 1/3 are new.
Blend
Pinot Noir (100%).
